OBJECTIVE |
This course is designed for students to further develop their knowledge of language for coherent and effective communication, and at the same time cultivate students’ interest through reading and listening.

Learning outcome |
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
-
develop the ability to communicate clearly, accurately and effectively when speaking and writing
-
learn how to use a wide range of vocabulary
-
use the correct grammar, spelling and punctuation and develop a personal style and address an awareness of the audience
-
acquire the essential knowledge and skills for teaching English as second language to new learners
-
uplift the students’ skills to sit for international recognized examination for English at different levels for example IELTS, TOEFL.

Admission Requirements |
The minimum entry requirement is either one of the following criteria:
-
Student must have minimum age of 16 years old with GCE ‘N/O’ Level results, SPM results, or equivalent/High School Graduate or equivalent
-
Mature applicants of 20 years of age with minimum of 2 years of working experience.

Other qualifications will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

ENGW201 Productive Skill – Writing
This writing module is designed to uplift the students’ grammar foundation and its use will enable students to use the language accurately, fluently, and appropriately for different purposes, audiences, contexts and cultures. |

ENGS202 Productive Skill – Speaking
This speaking skill module is designed to help students to develop their knowledge of language for coherent and effective communication. The acquisition and development of oral communication skills are necessary for building a strong foundation in English. Having the requisite speaking skills will enable students to convey and express their thoughts and opinions with accuracy, fluency, appropriateness and succinctness. |

ENGL203 Receptive Skill – Listening
This listening skill module is designed to help students to develop the ability to enjoy learning through reading and viewing, and understand critically a variety of texts which will help to build up the student’s language. It will also help them to progressively achieve fluency in reading and viewing. Mastery of these skills allows for quality interaction and collaborative learning in and outside of the classroom, as well as complement and support instruction in other areas of language learning. |

ENGR204 Receptive Skill – Reading
This reading skill module is designed to help students to develop the ability to enjoy learning through reading and viewing, and understand critically a variety of texts which will help to build up the student’s language. Graduation Requirements |
On successful completion of this Certificate in Advanced English program, students will be able to receive a certificate “Certificate in Advanced English” their respective area of course. This certificate is awarded by Chartered Institute of Technology.
Student must achieve an overall mark score of minimum 50% for all the modules in order to graduate with the respective award.

Articulation Pathway |
Upon successful completion of this certificate program, students will be able to progress their study to the CITECH Diploma or Postgraduate Diploma program. Students will be able to progress to the Diploma or Postgraduate Diploma program as long as they fulfil the entry requirements for IELTS and have a relevant minimum qualification requirement.
