AICPA, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and CIMA, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, two of the world’s most prestigious accounting bodies, have formed a joint venture to elevate the profession of management accountancy by establishing Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) as the most valued, globally recognised management accountant designation.
As a CIMA member, you automatically qualify for the new designation CGMA. You can use the letters CGMA after your name as soon as you qualify as an Associate Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA). Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA designation) is the global designation for management accountants. The CGMA designation extends the global reach of your recognition as a chartered management accountant. You remain a CIMA member as well, with all the benefits of CIMA membership. |

Benefits
CITECH has been accredited by CIMA in 2012 as one of its accreditation partners. CIMA has accredited CITECH’s Diploma in Accounting and Finance and Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Services where our graduates are eligible to apply for exemptions for some of the CIMA papers.
Graduates of CITECH Diploma in Accounting and Finance are eligible to apply for exemptions from CIMA for
- all the 5 modules at the certificate level - Certificate in Business Accounting and
- 2 modules – E1 Organisational Management and P1 Management Accounting at the CIMA Operations Level – Diploma in Management Accounting.
Therefore, students are only required to sit for the F1 Financial Reporting and Taxation paper. On successful completion and passing of this F1 Financial Reporting and Taxation paper, the graduates will be awarded with a CIMA Diploma in Management Accounting certificate.
Graduates of CITECH Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Services are eligible to apply for exemptions from CIMA for
- the F1 Financial Reporting and Taxation at the CIMA Operations Level;
- E2 Project and Relationship Management, P2 Advanced Management Accounting, F2 Advanced Financial Reporting at the CIMA Management Level – Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting; and
- F3 Financial Strategy at the CIMA Strategic Level.
Therefore, students will only be required to sit for the E3 Strategic Management and P3 Risk Management papers. On successful completion and passing of these two papers, you are on your way to becoming the CIMA Chartered Accountant soon.
In order to become a Chartered Accountant, it is essential for learners to fulfil the requirements of the Test of Professional Competence in Management Accounting level. This level comprises of two component parts that must both be achieved in order to complete the test. Learners are required to fulfill Part A which is learners must gain a minimum of three years’ relevant work based practical experience and Part B which is based upon a case study that is set within a simulated business context.
Upon successful completion and passing of both Part A and Part B, student will gain access to the designatory letters ACMA (Associate Chartered Management Accountant) and a certificate to certify that the student is admitted as Associate Chartered Management Accountant.
